Max Fortuna Firefighting Grant at Fresno City College


myCenVal is currently accepting donations to create the Max Fortuna Firefighting Grant at Fresno City College.
The Max Fortuna Grant will provide local youths financial and social emotional support as they attend classes through the Fresno City College Firefighting Program.
About the Grant
We are currently seeking funding to meet the grant scholarship requirements at Fresno City College.

Fallen Firefighter – January 31st 2022
On January 31, 2022, Captain Max Fortuna became one over 1,500 members of California’s Fallen Firefighter heroes.
Vidal “Max” Fortuna was a man who loved his family, his job and his community. Max served the city of Stockton for over 21 years. Captain Max spent hundreds of hours training new recruits and instilled in them the pride, traditions and customs of Stockton Fire.
To honor his legacy his family and loved loves are creating the Captain Max Fortuna Grant at Fresno City College.

Survived By
Captain Max Fortuna is survived by wife, Becky Jackson, mother and father Rosalinda Fortuna and Vidal Fortuna, his dad, Jeff Hilbert, his two brothers Peter Fortuna and John Paul Fortuna, and sister, Tammy Fortuna Dufton. Max and Becky had two children they cherished, daughter Sammatha Fortuna, son Joshua Fortuna.

More About Captain Max Fortuna
Captain Max Fortuna was born in 1974 in San Jose California where he and his siblings were raised to care for and be considerate of others.

As such Captain Max Fortuna was committed to his community and often volunteered as a coach for his local little league and played bass for his local church.

As a teenager Max attended Santa Clara High School. In high school he played baseball and football for the Santa Clara Bruins. In high school Max also learned to play the saxophone and other instruments.

While in high school, Max met the love of his life, Becky Jackson. As time passed, he and Becky would wed and have two children.
A Career of Service
Max Fortuna started his career as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with American Medical Response (AMR) in the Central Valley. Max then served as a volunteer firefighter throughout California putting out forest fires and more. Max became a career firefighter with the Stockton Fire Department in 2002.

Over time Max was promoted to Captain Max Fortuna in the Stockton Fire Department and served for over 21 years until his untimely death in 2022.
